We recently had a conversation with Dave Johnson, Executive Chairman of Aimbridge Hospitality.  Dave is one of the original members of the Active Travel Advisory Board, currently sits on the Steering Committee and has been a client of Active for almost 20 years.  We discussed with Dave how he is navigating the company through these very difficult times.

From Dave Johnson, Executive Chairman of Aimbridge Hospitality:

“We are very fortunate to be in a position to have grown our portfolio despite the challenges of this pandemic. Early on, we took proactive measures to ensure our hotels were supported, maintaining our corporate support staff and launching initiatives such as our AIMClean and AIMConnect programs to address consumer confidence in our hotels. Following those initiatives, we collaborated with the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) on the WELL Health-Safety certification program, addressing total safety and wellness during COVID-19 and beyond in the post-pandemic world. One of our prouder moments was establishing Aimbridge Aid this past spring, our charitable foundation providing financial assistance to our employees affected by the pandemic.”

“COVID-19 continues to create recovery hurdles in 2020. Economy and Extended Stay continue to lead occupancy. With the positive news we hear about potential, effective vaccines, we’re optimistic that this will jump-start leisure and corporate travel by spring 2021, with larger-scale groups beginning to rebound by Q4. I anticipate the industry will see softness in international travel demand most of next year, with gateway cities reliant primarily on domestic travel in 2021.”
